The history of ONHYM is marked by challenges, innovation, and confidence in the future. It is a long-standing journey that began in 1928 and continues to this day. ONHYM was established in 2005 through the merger of BRPM and ONAREP. Since their respective creations in 1928 for BRPM and in 1981 for ONAREP, both organizations have been pioneers and leaders in Morocco within their fields.
With renewed momentum driven by a modern strategic vision and supported by a dynamic and enabling legal framework, ONHYM has built upon and preserved the achievements of the merged entities. This includes recognized expertise in research, production, and processing of mineral resources and hydrocarbons, as well as strong capabilities in promotion, cooperation, and partnership development.
Guided by an ambitious strategy, ONHYM continues to intensify its efforts in both mining and hydrocarbon exploration. This is achieved by reinforcing its openness to the global market and strengthening partnerships with national and international investors, with the aim of enhancing and promoting the hydrocarbon and mining potential of Morocco’s subsoil.
ONHYM brings together more than 100 geologists and specialists across related disciplines. Its multidisciplinary teams operate on a project basis, working in close synergy with partners. Through increased international engagement and strong technical expertise, ONHYM remains committed to achieving its strategic objectives. These values guide the daily work of its staff and support its ongoing contribution to Morocco’s economic and social development, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God assist Him.
